The ORICO USB4 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure converts a compatible internal NVMe drive into high-speed portable external storage for file transfers, backups, gaming libraries and professional media workflows. Its USB4 interface provides a theoretical link bandwidth of up to 40Gbps when connected to a compatible USB4 or Thunderbolt host.

Under suitable test conditions, the enclosure can deliver sequential read speeds of up to 3500MB/s and write speeds of up to 2800MB/s. This makes it suitable for transferring large files, editing high-resolution video, managing photography projects and expanding computer storage.

The aluminum-alloy body conducts heat away from the installed drive, while the integrated active cooling fan, thermal pad and internal metal heatsink help control SSD temperature during sustained workloads. Its tool-free push-button design allows a compatible drive to be installed or replaced without screws or a screwdriver.

Important Note:

The 40Gbps figure is the maximum theoretical bandwidth of the USB4 connection and is not a guaranteed file-transfer speed. The advertised speeds of up to 3500MB/s read and 2800MB/s write require a sufficiently fast NVMe SSD, a compatible USB4 or Thunderbolt host, the correct cable and suitable operating conditions. Performance will be lower when connected through USB 3.2, USB 3.1, USB 3.0 or USB 2.0.

This enclosure supports PCIe NVMe M-Key drives only. It does not support M.2 SATA SSDs, B-Key SATA drives or incompatible connector types. SSDs with large preinstalled heatsinks may not fit and should not be forced into the enclosure.

The SSD must be initialized, partitioned and formatted before first use if it is new. Formatting may erase stored data, so back up important files before changing the file system. File-system compatibility depends on the operating system.

The NVMe SSD is sold separately and is not included. The enclosure is powered through the host connection and requires no separate power adapter during normal use. Actual temperature, fan noise and sustained performance depend on the installed SSD, ambient temperature, workload and airflow around the enclosure.
